Dr. Cheryl E. Matias was just the 2019-2020 Interdisciplinary Institute for the Study of (In)Equality Visiting Professor at University of Denver and was recently awarded the 2020 American Educational Research Association Mid-Career Award for her work on racial justice in teacher education! She was also an Associate Professor in the School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver. Starting fall 2020 she will be leaving Colorado and joining the University of Kentucky as a full professor and Director of Secondary Teacher Education. Her research focuses on race and ethnic studies in education with a theoretical focus on critical race theory, critical whiteness studies, critical pedagogy and feminism of color. Specifically, she uses a feminist of color approach to deconstruct the emotionality of whiteness in urban teacher education and how it impacts urban education. Her other research interest is on motherscholarship and supporting woman of color and motherscholars in the academy. A former K-12 teacher in both South Central, Los Angeles Unified School District and Bed-Stuyvesant, New York City Department of Education, she earned her bachelors in cultural communication from University of California San Diego, teaching credential at San Diego State University, and her masters in Social and Multicultural Foundations at California State University, Long Beach. She earned her doctorate at UCLA with an emphasis in race and ethnic studies in education. She delivers national talks and workshops on whiteness, racial justice, and diversity. She was awarded the 2014 American Educational Research Association’s Division K (Teacher Education) Innovations in Research on Diversity in Teacher Education Award and the 2015 and 2017 Colorado Rosa Parks Diversity Award. In 2015, she was awarded Excellence in Research by the School of Education & Human Development at University of Colorado Denver. In 2016 she was awarded the university’s 2016 Graduate School’s Dean Mentoring Award. In 2018 she was ranked as the top 25 women in higher education making difference in the journal, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Some of her publications can be found in Race, Ethnicity, and Education, Teacher Education Quarterly, Journal of Critical Thought and Praxis, Equity and Excellence, Journal of Teacher Education and Multicultural Perspectives. Her first solo-authored book entitled Feeling White: Whiteness, Emotionality, and Education earned the 2017 Honorable Mention for the Society of Professors of Education. Her second book, Surviving Becky(s): Pedagogies for Deconstructing Whiteness and Gender, came out January 2020 and has already been nominated for the AESA book award. Her third book Critical Theoretical Research Methods in Education comes out late 2020. She is a motherscholar of three, including boy-girl twins, a runner, an avid Lakers fan, and Bachata ballroom dancer.

Professor Dr. Ebba Ossiannilsson is a senior independent researcher, expert, advisor, consultant, quality reviewer, and influencer in the fields of open online flexible and distance learning, including e-learning and technology-enabled learning (TEL), (OOFAT), which include OERs and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs.) Her focus is on quality, benchmarking, innovation, leadership, personal learning, and learning “just for me.” Ossiannilsson is in the EC of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), and ICDE Ambassador for the global advocacy of OER Advocacy Committee, and she Chairs the ICDE OER Advocacy Committee. In addition, she is a member of the ICDE Global Quality Network Europe. She works with the European Commission Joint Research Center on quality. Ossiannilsson is a quality reviewer for both ICDE and the European Association of Distance Universities (EADTU). She also serves as a quality reviewer for Quality and Qualification Ireland (QQI). She is a member of the European Distance and E learning Network (EDEN) Executive Committee, she chairs the EDEN Special Interest Group (SIG) on Technology Enabled Learning and Quality Enhancement. She was awarded the title of EDEN Fellow in 2014, and she became an Open Education Europa Fellow in 2015. In 2018, she was awarded the title of the Council of EDEN Fellow. In 2020 she awarded the Fellowship of T4 on Demand. She works with ISO, especially on quality, but also on Futures Concepts. At national level Ossiannilsson is the Vice President of the Swedish Association for Distance Education (SADE) and Board member at the Swedish Organization for E-Competence (REK). She is member in Swedish Standard Institute(SIS), especially on quality, and the Job and Skills Coalition Sweden. Ossiannilsson has a comprehensive list of publications, mainly on the subject of quality and benchmarking. She serves on the editorial board of a number of international journals and even as a board member at international conferences. Since 2000, she has worked at Lund University in Sweden on open online flexible and distance learning, including e-learning and technology-enabled learning. In addition, she is a consultant and quality reviewer at several prestigious national universities. Ossiannilsson earned her PhD at Oulu University, Finland.

Maestro y escritor zaragozano. Licenciado en Filología Inglesa y Diplomado en Magisterio en Lengua Extranjera por la Universidad de Zaragoza. Ha sido nominado como uno de los 50 mejores maestros del mundo según el Global Teacher Prize (2015). Ha formado parte del Jurado de los Premios Princesa de Asturias, en la categoría de Comunicación y Humanidades, en 2017, 2018 y 2019.

"Las puertas de las escuelas han de estar abiertas, no solo para que entren los niños y las niñas sino para que sus ideas salgan y transformen el mundo”. Pensamientos como este son los que le llevaron al Congreso Mundial por los Derechos de la Infancia, en el XXV Aniversario de la Convención de los Derechos de la Infancia, en Puebla, México, y en 2018 también participó en el Congreso Mundial en Málaga.

Por sus múltiples proyectos vinculados a la participación infantil recibió el Premio Magister de Honor por la Plataforma de la Escuela Pública, el Premio Crearte del Ministerio de Cultura en dos ocasiones por su estímulo de la creatividad, así como también la Cruz José de Calasanz, máxima distinción en la educación aragonesa o el Premio Medio Ambiente Aragón 2013. Además, obtuvo la Mención de Honor en el International Children Film Festival of India, por la película de cine mudo “The importance of being an Applewhite” que hizo para unir a dos familias que no se hablaban.

Entre sus libros destacan La emoción de aprender (2018), La nueva educación (2015) y Las escuelas que cambian el mundo (2016), libros que ahora sirven de referencia en muchas universidades. Además, para niños ha escrito una adaptación del Quijote (2017) y El asombroso mundo de Bernardo (2018).

La escucha, la empatía, el respeto a las diferencias, la participación de niños, niñas y adolescentes en la sociedad y la educación para la convivencia son los pilares que defiende. Considera esencial el compromiso social y con la naturaleza como parte de la educación integral del ser humano.

Licenciado en Ciencias Biológicas. Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales. Universidad de Buenos Aires. Doctor en Biología de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, especializado en Neurociencias. Desde el año 2008 hasta el 2018 se desempeñó como Decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales y de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad de Belgrano en Buenos Aires. En la actualidad es profesor en 3 Universidades Argentinas (Universidad Nacional de la Matanza, Universidad de Morón y Universidad Maimónides) en carreras como Medicina, Kinesiología y Fisiatría y Biología.

Es investigador independiente en la Universidad de Morón. Posee 34 trabajos publicados y participó en 4 capítulos de libros. Además, participó como ponente en más de 100 Congresos y o Jornadas nacionales e internacionales.

A partir del año 2008 comenzó a divulgar a profesores de colegios de grado y de universidades, y a alumnos de secundario y de la universidad la aplicación de las neurociencias para enseñar, aprender o estudiar. Expositor en Congresos de Argentina, Chile, Perú, Guatemala, Costa Rica, México, España y Colombia. Docente de la Diplomatura Universitaria en Neuroaprendizaje que se dicta desde el 2010 en la Universidad de Belgrano. Docente desde el año 2017 en el Postítulo en Neuroaprendizaje del Instituto de Formación Docente “Santa Teresa de Jesús” CONADEC de la ciudad de San Juan, Argentina. Desde el año 2018 docente del curso a distancia “Curso Superior Universitario “Neurociencia y Educación: Hacia Una Pedagogía del Asombro” en la Universidad de Morón.

Todos los años realiza capacitaciones en Neuroeducación para docentes de todos los niveles en diferentes provincias de Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Panamá, Costa Rica, México, El Salvador, España, Perú, y Colombia. Participó en 3 charlas TEDx Educación.
