Research interests: Neurocognition of Communication Disorders (NCCD) Lab. The NCCD Lab conducts experiments examining the neural underpinnings of multisensory integration in relation to linguistic and cognitive processing in healthy aging and aging-related disorders. We utilize a combination of behavioral and electrophysiological techniques to conduct clinically relevant investigations to inform diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders. Additionally, the NCCD Lab supports student research at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels by providing support in the development of clinically relevant research questions and hands-on training with neuroimaging equipment.
International Experience: For several years I worked for SLP Cambodia, an initiative of Teachers College, Columbia University. During my time in Cambodia I served as clinic director and instructor in their study abroad program for clinical master of science students. Additionally, I continued to practice as a visiting clinician with Safe Haven Medical Outreach. Central to our efforts was teaching and training Cambodia professions about speech-language pathology in order to build sustainable, organic practices. Currently I am working with Imprint Hope Uganda, a rehabilitation and family training center, to build best practices and develop inclusion programs in government schools.
